Gerard Blaq (Donovan Gerard Cobbins) has always been captivated by a diverse range of music, creating spaces where people can experience the art, and the business that makes it all happen.

His journey into the industry started with internships at Astralwerks Records and The Collective Agency (TCA), where he soaked up knowledge from industry heavyweights handling acts like The Chemical Brothers, Fatboy Slim, Sasha, and John Digweed.

After a summer of learning under Jimmy Van M, Joel Zimmerman, Kris Krajewski, Nat Whelton, and Lawrence Lui, Gerard returned to school.  He founded the Electronic Music Club, focusing on university events. And launched Result Nights, a weekly party at The Bourbon Room in the Northern Virginia/DC area, featuring himself and a rotating lineup of underground talent.  Result became a hub for House, Techno, Minimal, and Drum & Bass. Degree in hand, Gerard set his sights on NYC, determined to secure a spot at TCA. He worked for free, quickly proving his worth, and landing a full-time role. The same day he accepted the job, he received an interview offer from Chaotica, the powerhouse agency behind Underworld, Daft Punk, and The Prodigy—but the universe had already chosen his path.

Shortly after joining TCA, Gerard was promoted to agent, building his own roster by signing acts such as Modeselektor and Radio Slave.  TCA would eventually merge with Chaotica to form Vital Talent, where he worked alongside one of the industry’s strongest group of agents including Gerry Gerard, Emma Hoser, Steve Goodgold, Meredith Fisher, and Malik Adunni.  Gerard would end up being recruited by William Morris Endeavor (WME), where he joined forces again with Joel Zimmerman to build the first-ever electronic music division at a major agency, representing  the world’s most forward-thinking acts including, LCD Soundsystem, Deadmau5, Soulwax, and Thievery Corporation.

Eventually, Gerard stepped away from the agency world.  Prior to relocating from NYC for entrepreneurship and family ventures, he helped produce events across the city, including his own party at Brooklyn venue, Little Field.

Now based in Denver, Gerard is crafting events that embody his vision: flawless sound, intimacy, and crowds where the only item on the agenda is FUN. He’s played sets across North America —from NYC to Maui to Playa Del Carmen—curating experiences in underground clubs, art galleries, and wherever good music belongs.

With Gerard Blaq Presents, he’s tapping into Denver’s rich mix of venues on and off the beaten path to create parties based around introducing you to new and old music that moves you.  Whether at a hidden speakeasy or an open-air spot under the stars, expect a welcoming, sexy environment where you can shake your ass or relax with a cocktail.
